Temporary Targeted Safer at Home Order
The City of West Hollywood is urging community members to follow the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revised Health Officer Order. The revised Order is a Temporary Targeted Safer at Home Order for Control of COVID-19 effective from 12:01 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020.
The Temporary Order has been issued as a response to the recent substantial rise in COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths. The LA County Public Health Officer expects both the number of new cases and hospitalizations to continue to rapidly increase. Without rapid public health interventions, continued and substantial increases in both cases and hospitalizations will stress the healthcare system. This stress will limit the availability of Intensive Care Unit beds for non-COVID-19 hospitalizations.
This Temporary Order has been issued to ensure that Los Angeles County residents remain in their residences as much as practicable, to limit close contact with others outside of their household in both indoor and outdoor spaces, and to further reduce the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 resulting from the unprecedented surge of new daily cases.
LA County Public Health Revised Order (November 28):
- Temporary Targeted Safer at Home Order (11.28.20) Officials from LA County Public Health remain concerned that people who are not exhibiting symptoms may unknowingly infect others including parents, grandparents, and friends and family who have underlying health conditions and who are at greater risk for serious illness and death.

The City of West Hollywood has declared a local emergency in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Community members are advised, at this time, to remain Safer at Home when possible. When in public for essential activities, community members should maintain your space with social (physical) distancing of at least six feet and cover that face to adhere to requirements for the use of face coverings. Face coverings are not required for young children under two-years-old; children between two- and eight-years-old should only wear face coverings with adult supervision; and people with certain medical conditions are exempt from this requirement.
LA County Public Health officials recommend that everyone continue to follow physical distancing and infection control directives and wear a clean cloth face covering that securely covers both your nose and mouth when in contact with other people not in your household.
The City encourages residents to remain home as much as is practical and limit close contact with others outside of a household. Additionally, people 65 years old or older and all people of any age with underlying health conditions should remain at home whenever possible; people in these categories should only leave their residences to seek medical care, exercise, or obtain food or other necessities.
State of California Limited Stay at Home Order
The City of West Hollywood is urging community members to adhere to the State of California Limited Stay at Home order, which is effective in counties under Tier One (Purple) of California's Blueprint for a Safer Economy, such as Los Angeles County. This order is in effect from Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 10 pm through Monday, December 21, 2020, at 5 a.m. and may be extended or revised as needed.
This order requires that all gatherings with members of other households and all activities conducted outside the residence, lodging, or temporary accommodation with members of other households cease between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., except for those activities associated with the operation, maintenance, or usage of critical infrastructure or required by law. This order does not apply to persons experiencing homelessness. Nothing in this order prevents any number of persons from the same household from leaving their residence, lodging, or temporary accommodation, as long as they do not engage in any interaction with (or otherwise gather with) any number of persons from any other household, except as specifically permitted herein.
These immediate actions will help reduce community spread, protect individuals at higher risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19, and prevent the state's health care delivery system from becoming overwhelmed.
